Dalam sambutannya, Bupati Barru H. Suardi Saleh mengatakan Pertanian adalah menjadi jawaban dari aktivitas pemerintah yang secara kasat mata meningkatkan kesejahteraan rakyat, karena profesi petani merupakan profesi yang tetap bertahan ditengah Pandemi Covid-19.
Lebih lanjut Bupati merasa bahagia karena hari ini kita membuktikan usaha dan niat kita untuk lebih meningkatkan lagi hasil para petani dan kesejahteraan para petani kita. Oleh karenanya, kalau pemerintah saja punya keinginan, punya kemauan dan tidak di dukung oleh elemen masyarakat tentu saja hal ini tidak bisa kita lakukan.
Bupati Barru juga mengharapkan panen hari ini di Galung akan menjadi motivasi kepada seluruh Petani yang ada di Kabupaten Barru meski punya luas sawah yang tidak cukup 1 Hektar, tetapi akan memotivasi untuk memanfaatkan lahan seoptimal mungkin.
Bupati Barru juga berpesan kepada Kadis Pertanian untuk mengawal para petani semuanya supaya jangan pernah ada lahan yang tidur.
“Sawah yang tadinya hanya satu kali tanam menjadi 2 kali, yang tadinya 2 kali menjadi tiga kali bahkan kita berharap lagi kalau ada yang sampai 4 kali”, harapnya.
